To accommodate many students who complete their degree requirements during the summer and winter months, Averett University has August and December Conferrals. However, these conferrals are not like Averett’s traditional graduation ceremony because there is no ceremony involved. All August and December Conferrals are allowed to participate in the following May graduation ceremony. Please indicate at the bottom of the graduation application if you plan to participate in the ceremony or not. Please note: if you indicate that you plan to walk in the following May ceremony, you will be contacted by the Registrar's Office to confirm your participation in the event, closer to the date of the ceremony. Be sure to include your alternate email address in your graduation application. Should you not respond to the outreach, the Registrar's Office will assume you have changed your mind about walking in the ceremony. Diplomas conferred in August and December will be dated August 15th or December 11th with the exception of ABSN students. All diplomas will be mailed after August 30th or December 15th.

Students completing their degree requirements and earning a degree in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (ABSN) during the summer trimester will have their degrees conferred on August 30th.

Students that qualify and are actively using Veteran's Education Benefits at Averett University are not required to pay the commencement fee. If you have exhausted your Veteran's Education Benefits prior to your last semester you will be required to pay your commencement fee.

Special Requirements

1. All students applying for graduation must pay the $125 graduation fee and remaining balance on their account by the deadline to avoid a $50 late fee. Click here to view deadlines.

If you are unable to meet you degree requirements or be financially cleared from student accounts you will be withdrawn from graduation. In order to officially graduate once you are withdrawn you will need to complete another graduation application once you become eligible to graduate. If you are withdrawn from graduation and you paid your $125.00 graduation fee your fee will be transferred to the next graduation you apply for.

Special Requirements

Students that complete a Graduate Certificate at Averett University are NOT eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony but will receive their certificate in the mail at the end of the semester the certificate is completed. To accommodate students who complete a graduate certificate at Averett University we ask that the graduation application be completed so that we can both deliver the certificate to the correct location as well as print the name of the student on the certificate correctly.

If you are unable to meet you certificate requirements or be financially cleared from student accounts you will be withdrawn from graduation. In order to officially graduate once you are withdrawn you will need to complete another graduation application once you become eligible to graduate.
